Fair Housing Contest

2008 poster winner

About the Content

The Human Rights Commission (HRB) produced its first Fair Housing Calendar in 1996. By sponsoring this contest, HRC hopes students learn about discrimination and its unfairness in the area of housing. It is also helped students learn how discrimination in an area as fundamental and basic as housing can impact one's choices and opportunities in life. HRC wants students to know about Howard County's 15 protected classes

Entries are screened to ensure that all requirements have been met. Posters are separated for judging into three categories: elementary, middle and high school. Commissioners choose posters which best illustrate the theme. Twelve posters will be featured in the calendar. The contest is open to any Howard County students, grades K-12.
